Lunch Session:
The Apple Platform Really is Revolutionary!

Blaine Mattson - JAMF Software

As Mac OS X and iOS evolve and the Apple platform undergoes significant changes, the importance of the platform grows each year. Through the years, many have underestimated the reach and significance of the platform, and now is the time to help push it to new prominence.

Increasingly, more organizations make significant investments to migrate from other operating systems and build new capabilities to take advantage of the promise of this ground-breaking platform. As the technology and capabilities emerge rapidly, we in the Mac IT community have an obligation to lead the way in this new era. Our depth of knowledge about the platform will serve us well as we help those organizations and individuals exploring the platform for the first time – or even revisiting after a long absence - to succeed and thrive.

Now is the time for all of us to take on a leadership role and do the hard work that will help our colleagues, customers, friends and family succeed with Apple technologies.

13.30 - 14.45

Don't be a Sys Admin

Edward Marczak - Google

The role of all Sys Admins have changed. Despite its challenging and wide-ranging origins, many System Administrators have become complacent - particularly in the Mac realm.

This session talks about steps you can take to bring more value to you and your company, including general best practices, scripting, system foundations and working with the IT community.

15.00 - 16.15

OS X Lion Server

Speaker to be announced at the conference

The OS X Server, and how you manage it, has changed quite a lot in it’s Lion incarnation.

During this session we’ll take a deeper look at changed and new features.

16.45 - 18.00

Deploying iOS
Charles Edge - 318 and krypted.com

iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad are bridging the gap between non-Mac IT professionals charged with managing these devices and the traditional Mac SysAdmins. In most enterprises, these devices now represent greater populations than Mac OS X based computers. But while they are similar to Mac OS X, in a lot of ways administrators have to forget everything we knew and start afresh. You cannot image these devices the way you do a MacBook or an iMac. There's no NetBoot, no bare metal imaging and no multiple users whose profiles need to be synchronized. Sound like nirvana? Replace those challenges with a new set: how do you centrally deploy, manage and deploy content to iOS based devices?

In this session we will look at centralized deployment of iOS based devices. This will include the deployment of data, profiles, certificates and settings. In this session we will start with a set of requirements and then move through to the deployment of multiple devices that meet those requirements. When complete, we will have devices ready for centralized management.
